Because the view from here is…
TMV

Welcome to The Marvalus View…formerly known as Opinionated Black Woman…

You may wonder: why the change? Well, OBW was becoming something that was just there…a convoluted arrangement of stuff that really I was throwing up to satisfy everyone but me. I have been doing this (blogging) a long time and have gone from nothing to something in a short time, and somewhere in there I’ve lost my focus on what I want this blog to be about. Because I believe that everything happens for a reason, I think losing all of my posts when I transferred to WP 2.5 and switching to my new HP was a sign to start anew…but I didn’t then. But now that I have all this time on my hands, I’ve grown from just having OBW to having The Sport Chick’s Lounge, Live Marvalously, and Where Butterflies Rest Easy…that’s too much!

So TMV will become the house that Marvalus built; it will contain everything: the sports stuff, the short stories, and some new stuff…and those things that I read or see that I just feel inclined to write about. I will also open up TMV to guest bloggers (an idea that I’m stealing from my blog sister, Regina)(((smiles))) who will, hopefully introduce my audience to new things and different ideas.

I feel strongly indebted to the strong women in my life. Because of that, this blog will take on the outlook of empowering women in many different areas: relationships, health & beauty, career, home, and whatever else I can think of. I don’t want to get too out-of hand and allow it to become random, but I want to make sure that I am covering the bases and capturing the essence of what I am attempting to do here. In my short-lived blog, “Woman To Woman,” I attempted to create a place where women could come and conversate and gather information. That is the basis of what I want to do here, but on a much larger scale.

The empowerment of women is important to me; not necessarily on a “feminism” level, but on a level where respect and communication with women are celebrated, not demeaned or degraded. I believe in equal and fair treatment of women, and I also believe that women should be acknowledged for all they contribute to the world. Does that make me a feminist? I don’t like that term, so I reject it. What I accept is that I believe in the power of women, and all that we can accomplish.

There is a special place in hell for women who do not help other women. ~ Madeleine Albright
